I imagine many people get home from the grocery store, unpack their food and then wonder what to do with all the extra plastic bags. A few bags might be used to line garbage bins around the house. Some might get stashed into a closet until the pile grows big enough that they end up tossed into the trash.
What did we do before plastic bags? When I was a kid, I remember the local grocery store would place all the empty boxes from their shipments at the front of the store, where customers could use them to carry groceries back to their car. Even if they don’t do this anymore, have you considered bringing a box?
Unlike bringing your own bags to the grocery store, a box is much easier and faster to fill at the checkout. You could opt for a plastic bin, anything that is convenient. The key is reducing the consumption of plastic bags, and it is possible with the slightest preparation: bring reusable bags or containers when you go shopping.
Stay environmentally healthy my friends!
